Job Title: Engineering Designer

FLSA Status: Exempt

The Engineering Designer is a corporate team member that supports the development and management of national design packages within the parameters of company design standards and within the confines of the corporate Federal Design Manual (DAPIA) or State level Modular building codes. The Engineering designer will report to the Vice President of Engineering and the National Design Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepares product design packages including detailed drawings and schematics pursuant to obtaining building permit labeling for HUD and Modular residential construction.

  • Prepares detailed product shop drawings using pursuant to providing production personal with the information necessary for proper construction.

  • Utilizes company drafting standards for all design work.

  • Works with state and third-party agencies in design drawing approvals and labeling

  • Maintains a proficient knowledge of company technical process regarding Design package updates, code compliance, Product Value analysis, best practices, and product standards.

  • Support plant level design department and others in all plant level technical activities as needed.

The Engineering Designer position will help support the corporation's ongoing design and engineering activities in BIM models management, design standardization, engineering drawing production, and enterprise data generation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support and training for design environment software.

  • Assist in developing support and training documents for design software and processes.

  • Develop and maintain template files and families to company standards.

  • Provide quality control for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to company drawing standards.

  • Support company design standards development, implementation, and enforcement.

  • Maintain high level of competency of design software through continued use and training.

  • Assist on custom project work as needed.

  • Occasional to regular travel may be required to various CHB manufacturing facilities in pursuit of these objectives.

  • Understand, appreciate, and enjoy manufactured housing and residential construction along with the significance our products bring to the customer.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Will lead various support personnel in the design package preparation activities but will not have direct supervisory authority.

  • Technical Skills - working knowledge or ability to gain working knowledge of residential building codes referenced in company products.

  • Comfortable reading prints and interpreting home construction engineering instructions.

Education and/or Experience

  • 3+ years production experience in design, drafting or engineering,

  • In-depth working knowledge of AutoCAD/AutoCAD MEP. Knowledge of Revit software a plus.

  • Associate/Bachelor of Science in Architecture or Engineering a plus.

  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.

  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.

  • Possess the ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
