Two (2) positions will be filled by consideration of all applicants to this posting.

These positions provide senior-level technical assistance and offer capacity building to agency leaders responsible for ensuring compliance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other relevant federal and state accessibility laws, policies, and procedures as they apply to Department of Corrections' (DOC) clients.

These positions provide objective, impartial, and accurate advice to all levels of the organization. They will engage directly in and document the accommodation process, coordinate accommodations for incarcerated individuals, participate in facility ADA committee meetings, support facilities and shared management in providing accommodations to clients, track and monitor cases, maintain accurate records, and collect and analyze data for administrative reports.

Additionally, they will support strategic initiatives developed and implemented by EAI Office. They will also support accessibility requirements within the department. Other responsibilities include offering technical and content expertise on policy and projects related to ADA compliance, building an inclusive agency environment and equitable outcomes for people with disabilities.

To promote a culture of flexibility, we offer staff a hybrid work environment that varies by team, position, and business needs. This position will require in-office work as needed. Completion of a telework agreement will be required. Teleworking employees are required to live in Minnesota or a bordering state in a county along the Minnesota state line.

Minimum Qualifications

To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

  • Three (3) years of experience working with Title II of the ADA.

  • Note: A Bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one-and-a-half (1.5) years of experience. A Juris Doctorate may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

  • Expert knowledge of ADA Title II accommodation requirements and strategies.

  • Communication skills (verbal and written) sufficient to provide guidance to agency staff and draft memos and reports.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:

  • Experience developing, implementing, or supporting processes focused on improving accessibility in government programs or services.

  • Experience developing policies or protocols to support compliance with Title II of the ADA.

  • Five (5) or more years of experience monitoring or ensuring compliance with Title II of the ADA.

  • Knowledge of digital accessibility best practices and/or ability to design digitally accessible documents.

  • Knowledge of State approved vendors for ADA-related technology and services.

  • Experience and/or skill in designing training programs.

Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may

include a review of job performance and discipline records.
