Airlift Northwest

Senior Flight Nurse/Base Manager (RN3), Davenport, WA Base

RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Chief Flight Nurse/Regional Manager

*only open to current ALNW RNs.

PURPOSE Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned base, ensuring that the ALNW mission is being adhered to and policy and procedures are followed.

Regularly perform the flight nurse role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Base Management:

Participate in RN management meetings.

Contribute to patient care and safety standards being met for assigned base, under direction of the Chief Flight Nurse.

Be responsible for the base schedule being complete in a timely fashion per SEIU 1199 contract.

Be responsible for the accuracy of timecards and documentation of hours worked and leave used by flight staff, including data entry into payroll system.

Assist the Chief Flight Nurse with interviewing, hiring and training of new flight staff for assigned base.

Complete and perform the annual performance evaluations of flight staff for assigned base.

Ensure that base flight staff complete and have documentation of annual job requirements such as: OSHA, Safety Checklist, TB, hearing, mask fit test, survival, Clinical Skills and Hours, etc.

Give input into development of the annual base budget; administer the base budget and contribute to the base being fiscally sound.

Ensure that the base has flight nurse representation on committees and task forces, and in equipment and product selection, etc.

Maintain the base for day to day operations for the line staff to include oversight of cleaning, stock and the Pyxis stock to include narcotic representative for 222 forms for Rich U.

Other duties as assigned

Flight Operations

Perform flight nurse duties 0.6 fte hours and management duties at 0.3 fte hours.

Act as a clinical resource to the flight staff.

Public Relations

In conjunction with outreach coordinators, Act as a resource to referral facilities, physicians, pre-hospital personnel and the public in establishing a positive image of the flight service.

Be the initial contact for resolution of complaints both from staff and outside agencies. Participate in quality assurance activities and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

*Must be a currently employed ALNW RN.

Education: BSN.

Experience: At least 5 years critical care nursing experience.

At least 2 year air medical care experience (RN in an aviation environment), including experience with ALNW.

Other: Current WA RN license.

Excellent communications and public relations skills. Excellent problem solving skills.

Nurse management experience desirable.

Flexible to the needs of the organization and the changing conditions in the aeromedical industry.
