The Actuation Systems group is looking for a seasoned professional in Manufacturing Engineering who works independently and in collaboration with other manufacturing design personnel. Analyzes designs and develops component layouts. Coordinates and implements sequence of operations, and product updates and enhancements. Actuation Systems in Rockford is a relatively small group offering our team members opportunity to be versatile and cross-train to support the business needs. We are primarily focused on design and development activity. Continuous improvement of existing processes and products will also be a key focus area. The ME position will work with plant sites producing current product as well as be engaged in the Integrated Product Teams associated with the design and development of our upcoming products.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Works independently to perform activities related to planning and designing manufacturing processes and specification requirements to ensure full utilization of manufacturing equipment.

• Analyzes and modifies product designs in collaboration with other teams such as Design Engineering to assure manufacturability.

• Develops design, selection, specification, and optimization of the required equipment, fixtures, tooling, gaging, processes, and operations.

• Determines other technical matters required to make a given product according to the desired volume, timetable, cost, quality level, and other specifications. Includes the monitoring of established processes via data collection for statistical analysis purposes as well as the use of various continuous improvement

• enablers.

• May evaluate manufacturing capability and provide technical support at the supply base.

• Designs and develops manufacturing processes for products, taking into consideration problems inherent in the transfer of technology from research to manufacturing. Such design and development may include new or revised processes.

• Develops procedures for the economical mass production in cooperation with pilot-plant and production departments.

• Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine

• control over applicable variables; and services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation.

• Reviews field support requirements and recommends tools and test equipment.

• Determines maintenance and repair materials required for deployment.

• May make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.

Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

• Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

• A Minimum of 1 year SAP related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with assembly job instruction creation

• Solumina Production hardware database knowledge

• Experience with assembly tool design

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
